Setting up the Product Lifecycle

Setting up the Product Lifecycle

Content Engine is a State-of-the-Art Content Automation Platform that will craft clear, precise, and powerful Content Marketing for your business.

Part 1: product & Business Explorer

This is the first time I’m going to be explaining the product lifecycle to you. It might seem abstract but it can be really fulfilling if you’re a product people like me. So please treat me respectfully if I did a bad job and you have a long experience with the previous blog posts. The previous blog posts are webinars. Let’s have a look at what I’m going to tell you. In my previous blog posts (kind of like my job description) I have tried to walk my visitors through the process of buying a product or service and then using marketing funnel analysis to understand why. I’ve done most of this in step 3 from the visitor’s perspective and with some helpful hints for you. In step 3 we talk about the problem we’re trying to solve, the initial consideration, research and lead through the buyer journey. However my strategy is more in step 4. We were trying to figure out why we sold our product to 4 customers for the entire world market on to the seller. So I started looking at the products we sold as a strategy for what’s called a life cycle. Once you learn more you start to have more clarity on what product you do and why you do it. I’m going to discuss this in phases but the first phase happens during the product life cycle. In this next phase (this time) I’m going to be explaining in a more technical detail how the product & Business Explorer works, the problems that we resolve with it and the different steps along the way. Keep in mind we’re not going to solve all your problems, we have to figure them out one at a time as we go along. I’m going to attempt to do this in four parts and I hope you’ll go through them with me. In order to keep you organized, you’ll have to finish all of these in one sitting but you’ll notice that the information in my previous blog posts are consistent and step by step. If you feel like I’m going through that again please feel free to send me a feedback or two. PHASES OF THE product LIFE CYCLE

Now it’s time for the first part! Phase 1: Welcome to your product timeline. We’ve set you a 2 to 3 month timeline for completing all of your tasks for the first 6 months. Our product Managers (PMs) take on the task of creating these timelines which we then follow along with the wizardly tools we use. Our PMs start with a product budget and work their way to the most critical actions that are likely to effect your time within the first 6 months. If your product has over 2 engineers on it, we may push your deadline slightly later because we really do get overwhelmed with a lot of tasks. If we think you have an over and over issue we may have to push the deadline further out but that’s pretty rare. Most of the tasks we add in the timeline are based on what we call SMARTs – specific, measurable, achievable, time-bound and timely. (I’m actually going to break them into four phases. )

Add task Tricks: some of our version control features are really cool but sometimes we think you would benefit from some more task tricking. By just adding some workarounds to the task management console we’ve made it easier for you to manage your task and assign it to someone who can finish the task quicker and more efficiently. By just adding some workarounds to the task management console we’ve made it easier for you to manage your task and assign it to someone who can finish the task quicker and more efficiently. Add task Tricks that are frequently worked. We have really fun and fun products that are hard for our PMs to manage. We know that they’re brilliant ideas and may be the key to our future success but how we bring those products to market so we can make any revenue for our company is incredibly hard work. We have a long history with solving these hard problems that customers have. That’s what we look for in using really great products. Add task Tricks that are frequently worked. We have a lot of great folks who don’t have much responsibility but can help move something forward in product and design. Once you work on more of these, help us design around your strengths and we’ll give you great new features, awesome new value to the user experience and better visibility into the product. From there we may assign you more responsibility or even give you more status updates. Build responsibility and lets go. With these two approaches we have a number of workflow and task organizing tools, but sometimes we have to push things out a little further into the project. Prioritize and start. With every task management platform we focus on educating and empowering the PM through how to prioritize their work and even reduce the number of tasks that have to be done. This is the time before we add anything to the timeline. It’s also the time before we talk to our teams about what are the most urgent things they have to deal with. Prioritize and start. We’ve committed to helping you manage your workflow and ensure you have some extra freedom and some extra time to focus on projects and initiatives. As the best team in the industry I know I can help and I will, but as we all know our job is far from over. At some point over the next year we will need to move away from some of the solutions we’ve created and into some more marketable marketable product. Let’s go
