Who should join my team to build an app for a health foc…
Being an app developer is a great job opportunity. Not only are you a business partner for the app (but a potential moneymaker), but you’re also working in the very community that has spawned the success of so many apps. What better place to work than in your own backyard. We’ve got the list of exactly where to find your startup’s next big hit app developer right here:
1. The Santa Cruz Business Technology Center
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I love challenges. Being a perfectionist, I love the process of creating software, and for the past year I’ve been a member of the tech community at the Santa Cruz Business Technology Center. When I found the BTC, I knew I had found the community for me. What’s the best part about being part of the BTC: I am able to help people grow their business by providing feedback and contacts. I’ve worked with all levels of employees from first year interns to top-ranked BizDeals ranked #1 overall. Best part about my job: The best part of my job is to be a member of the BTC community. I’m always excited to work with a developer who has the passion and drive to move their app to the next level, and I am thrilled when they succeed. Notable BizDeals accomplishment: Our customers have benefited from our apps and some big success stories (like Credo’s apps) and BizDeals took home 2017’s TechDisrupt award, the biggest startup company recognition for California, CA. 2. Compass
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I got the itch to get back to app development after all my game time with Zen Pop in mobile games. I was working in mobile game development (XO Roll Casino, HeroGo Casino, SpyYourself, and Flight Simulator games) with a colleague who quit and said he would never work in tech again. I knew I had to find my own job. I have a degree in computer and information sciences and went straight into app development. What’s the best part about my job: I work on just about every developer side project. I am constantly learning and getting better at the job. Best part about my job: Do what you love and do not be afraid to work hard. Notable BizDeals accomplishment: We have recently released a Fantasy Sports game, and have done app development for nonprofits, sports teams, college athletes, leaders and corporations. 3. The Village at Discovery Bay
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I had been considering moving back to DC after relocating from NYC. I felt like I’d missed out on some of the best events and events in the world because I was close to New York City (see: NYFW, 50,000+ side-by-side at the National Air and Space Museum).I wanted to be closer to my friends and family, but it seemed like too much work. So I signed up for an event at Discovery Bay, San Diego, that is part of the tech community and works with LocoTech (one of the biggest tech conferences in the country, me included). What’s the best part about my job: Delivering a great experience to our guests. Best part about my job: The coolest part of my job is having so many contacts in technology from around the world. The funniest part of my job, at least for me, is when I discover someone is from New York and they are here for the festival. Notable BizDeals accomplishment: A fully functional and working app for PATH (Postcard PDF). 4. Echo Health
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I love to travel and I was looking for new ways to manage my company health. One thing that felt familiar and familiar to me, was an app called Hipster. That got me excited for mobile health and the personal health data I could integrate into my lifestyle. What’s the best part about my job: To make a real, meaningful difference in people’s lives
Best part about my job: Making a real, meaningful difference in people’s lives and helping people find solutions for their daily problems. Notable BizDeals accomplishment: The Echo Health app was recently used for the first time to manage a corporate wellness program and for people’s medical data, for the first time. There is also a partner app called JOMBS that handles pre-surgical and post-surgical management in the medical field. 5. MyCastify
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I love social tools for fitness and health, as well as being surrounded by helpful people. Those are the things I’ve always enjoyed. What’s the best part about my job: Making big, easy-to-understand mobile tools
Best part about my job: Seeing how tech can bring action for change
Best part about my job: Seeing my impact as someone willing to run with mobile
Also known as: San Diego native, tech junkie. 6. Crystal Health
Why I chose to get started in mobile: Running my own blog has made me really learn how to manage my workflow using a mobile device. People are using mobile to do email, to make calls, and to plan their schedules. The CMO movement is moving to mobile because it makes our business processes easier. What’s the best part about my job: Keeping up with the growing category of mobile health and leveraging tools to make a difference
Best part about my job: Seeing how mobile tools can help people make a difference. 7. Braintree’s app, Braintable, helps small businesses manage payments, gift cards, and receipts. We encourage small businesses to adopt mobile to do things faster, simpler, and safer.
Why I chose to get started in mobile: I grew up with my family at our bakery, which is quite mobile. It’s hard to get any things done when you’re busily running errands and juggling food, kids, and a lot of bills. Between my wife working 30 hours a week, my daughter working 30 hours a week, and myself driving a Volkswagen, there’s a lot of paperwork I have to catch up on. I know the work is going to be hard and frustrating, but I love being close to my family. What’s the best part about my job: Knowing I can offer value, even though I’m more than 6,000 miles away.
