About a year ago, Becker College opened their first all-women’s school in Texas. Out of the 500-plus new students who’ve been enrolled since then, none of them will ever play Overwatch, Blizzard’s wildly popular multiplayer shooter series. But they will certainly play up the fact that they attended a school for women and have their own pro-team.

Last year, Becker College hired new esports coach Marianne Clarke after the OWL season ended. Last night, they announced that they have hired former OWL coach turned esports head coach Matthew “Macey” Post to lead the college’s Overwatch team.

Post was the head coach for Florida Mayhem from 2016 to 2017 and eventually helped them make the playoffs as a wildcard team.

Clarke graduated from Becker in 2012. She also started SH2 Esports and is the first female graduate to start a professional esports team. This team marks the 10th all-women team in Overwatch history.

According to their Twitter account, the team will play Overwatch One, a specifically tailored map that focuses on picks and eliminations. They will then transition into three-on-three multiplayer against a male team. Post hopes to have the team practice at Hawkeye Studios on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. These dates were left off the schedule because of the massive amount of demand they have been receiving.

Post is currently in the midst of negotiation with two Overwatch League teams for players, but does not know if they will be able to sign players before the season starts next April. It seems very unlikely that he’ll be able to sign players until 2020, which is when the new season is scheduled to start.

Looking to the future, Macey was also excited about their partnership with Hollywood Gaming, who are the owners of the Overwatch League franchise the San Francisco Shock.
