Today Blizzard announced that a bunch of changes are coming to Overwatch. The first patch is a temporal one, so patch notes are a little thin but it is possible to pick up a few subtle changes.

The biggest (and arguably the most overlooked) bug is perhaps one that almost didn’t get fixed at all. A recent post on Overwatch’s official blog revealed that people were activating the Touch Mech healing cells as Healing Salves. The healing cells were supposed to be triggered from damage incurred by a vehicle or enemy combatants. Instead, healing the vehicles and combatants triggered them to activate every 0.25 seconds.

This didn’t serve anyone well:

Incursions teamed up Soldier 76 with an autonomous Healing Salve that popped up when a Soldier was under fire, but these Healing Salves popped up with forces approaching from different directions – knocking teammates out of action with every attack. Two deaths in an Incursion means the odds are stacked against your team, even with Mercy.

Blizzard has fixed this bug with a new patch which should be live in the next couple of days.

The next patch, patch 1.13, looks like it’s going to be a much heavier beast. There are the usual bug fixes and some major additions to the game:

The entire Walker expansion is now available across all Overwatch heroes and maps. Bazaar, Adventure Mode, and Heroes of the Storm have all made the jump to the new update, introducing a legion of new heroes and meeting new challenges. Brigitte’s healing aura will now spell out Hi-7 starting at full health, with more bells and whistles on the countdown screen to the full damage.

Outside of the Walker expansion, Mercy is getting a Control match item patch which lets you switch to Mei’s Board to turn over Control points. This will be available in any Control map on the game.

Overwatch is another must-play game to follow, if for no other reason than it’s a lot of fun. You can watch a handy walkthrough on how to get started in the game below.
