How to find the most rewarding deals on Black Friday 2016
I think the fact that the ads start spending as early as Thanksgiving Day is having a massive impact on the $7-30 billion spent on Black Friday and online Black Friday sales this year. Now, I know that big box retailers spend an insane amount of money to keep the shelves stocked to the last second, but it is probably enough to break their target of $10 billion in total sales and maybe even $15 billion in total sales on Black Friday. The big box retailers that I’ve talked about before, Walmart and Target, are following this pattern and starting the ads as early as Wednesday. This is what retailers, many of whom use Black Friday and Cyber Monday to replace their income after the summer sales tax free holiday, are doing to keep up with the flood of traffic. With the size of the ads as early as Thursday, I think we can expect to see significant marketing spending throughout the whole 4-5 day period. Black Friday shopping has a negative value to them since they can’t spend the holidays in a giant discount store. So I think the bulk of Black Friday shopping is going to remain. What I’d love to see, if I were a retailer, is what effect is the Black Friday weekend having on the rest of the year? Your new data from The Vertical Group at PwC.com shows that consumers spent just over $31 billion on Black Friday – 15% less than last year. Also, data from NPD Group also shows that Christmas shopping is behind last year and is coming in third. I also think that getting more push notifications for people that are able to get in the door, and being easier to use. Maybe we can work on it even harder to make it easier for people to shop the season in a better, more convenient, fashion based way. How much is the way we’ve been marketing shopping for the last 4-5 years just not going to work? [vi] Brick & Mortar retailer Gift Cards One reason I see that Black Friday’s are falling is that people are now getting used to buying credit card rewards points off of their purchase. What’s really interesting is that we’re seeing that increase of the number of points than previous years. I also think this has to do with the way people are increasingly cash shopping now. They’re choosing to buy at retail locations or even in-store and having their credit card as a means of payment being some of the requirements for that transaction. After a couple of months, the people that are using them tend to go and do other work during the day, and the terminals just sit there.

While Taylor and Bryant are successful in accomplishing their SMART goals, they stumbled on a problem: each goal goal did not include a timeline for each step in the process. Here are 5 tips Taylor and Bryant should keep in mind the next time you create your SMART goal. Self-made millionaires using SMART goals may not have the luxury to make plans for their plans as Taylor and Bryant did. Taylor and Bryant realized that their plan needed to change once they started to grow. Taylor and Bryant created their SMART goal in response to the need to grow consistently over the long-term and stick to their SMART plan. Remember to use SMART goals as a way to get things done consistently but also on time. You can’t just go back to a plan and say “I’m going to do a goal, but it’s done now” or you’ll just start taking more time and this will end up like your plan that you were working on a few steps ago and something you’ve had to give up. Taylor and Bryant adopted a goal in the form of an improvement that included how they’d improve over time, and that’s how they built a stronger plan. Taylor and Bryant realized that one goal is not enough and needed to include multiple key aspects of their plan to do things better over time. Taylor and Bryant started to look at their SMART plan for plan. After you create your SMART goal, use the checklist to develop your plan. Taylor and Bryant saw that making their goal a habit was going to take time, but made a plan to follow through, and they made that their goal. Taylor and Bryant knew what their goal was, they knew it would take time, and so they had to start on it. In Taylor and Bryant’s case, Taylor and Bryant decided to use their SMART goal to their advantage and their end goal—to improve over time. Using their SMART goal, Taylor and Bryant decided to use it to improve their eating habits in order to lose weight. But their SMART goal didn’t just end there—they also created an action plan for starting. Use your SMART goal as a plan. As a result of using a SMART goal, Taylor and Bryant felt more confident and invested in their plan. For Taylor and Bryant, setting SMART goals takes one step forward, and then you’re back where you started.
