1 Thing You Should Know Before Hiring A Content Marketing Manager
Content marketing is the next frontier. Young entrepreneurs and startup CEOs are looking for new ways to build their following, gain more traffic, increase sales, and attract investment money. Technology and data have become so smart, they’re even helping to track. With that in mind, content marketing is a great way to increase engagement.
Regardless of whether you’re using traditional marketing methods, such as paid advertising, SEO or social media ads, or you’re focusing on native advertising tactics, like podcasts, it’s time to start building your content marketing team.
A content marketing manager is the person you hire to lead that department and ensure all your marketing efforts are executed properly.
How Much Does A Content Marketing Manager Make?
As with most other fields, getting a good job in the content marketing space is tough because there are so many high-quality, top-notch candidates vying for the same opportunities. There’s no one way to find out exactly how much someone in the field makes, but once you’ve collected some information it’s fairly easy to figure out a salary range:
Content marketing specialist Average annual salary: $120,000 To $130,000 Salary as content marketing manager (its highest job title): $150,000-$160,000 Production manager Average annual salary: $110,000-$115,000
Now, there’s no way to know exactly how much a content marketing manager will make, but using an average salary for content marketing specialists, it’s easy to calculate how much it will cost you if you want to outsource the job. If you figure out that you need to give your co-workers a commission on every $100 they make, you’ll know your payroll is on track.
How To Find A Content Marketing Manager
Assuming you know you want to outsource the content marketing portion of your business, you’ll need to find the right person for the job. Luckily, it’s not all that difficult. There are a handful of highly reputable companies that offer these services. One method of doing this is through an online search (like Google), and another is to check in with recruiters.
These are two of the best recruiters in the space:
Dreamweaver Online
Once you find the company that matches your needs, talk to them about your need. You don’t want to be overcharged for a service or have some unexpected requirement. You also don’t want to make a bad first impression with the company.
Once you’ve found the company, contact your supervisor to give them an idea of what your needs are and what you’re looking for.
Once the recruiter talks to your manager, give him or her a letter of intent. Then, get a voicemail with questions and concerns, like dates and locations of your next interview. This should inspire the recruiter to complete the job quickly.
When Do You Need A Content Marketing Manager?
Organizations with small to medium-sized budgets are often forced to outsource content marketing, but it also doesn’t matter how big your operation is if you can’t get your job done right. You’ll want to make sure that you hire a good professional who will get your job done without cutting corners. To that end, look for someone who works well with writers and can interact with them in a professional way. Also, look for someone who can take their time writing and producing the perfect piece.
