3 Lies You Must Be Told About Content Marketing

There is a general misconception that content marketing does not work. While it may not lead to immediate sales, it has the ability to generate loyalty.
Content marketing works because it sends the message that an organization wants to be there and can be reached. Most brands take great pride in being an influencer in the social media space, and you should, too. When you begin reaching out to your community to begin the conversation, you give them a reason to trust you and want to have a conversation with you.
If you don’t develop and plan a content marketing strategy, it will be doomed to fail. What could be a good idea might not work due to your rigid beliefs that don’t make business sense. This article is going to debunk the top three myths that have plagued business owners for years:
You must support entire products with your marketing and brand
Sell only what people want and need.
The fact of the matter is that business owners that continually pitch for new customers and waste resources on trying to figure out how to get existing customers to buy more is a losing battle. It makes sense that after receiving a large amount of business for one project or event, businesses try to sell to the same customers for another project or event. This is known as “monetization” or “creeping engagement.”
But, have a business model that is viable and worth the investment, because we are already paying for the ones that we do buy. When you are obsessed with spending additional resources on trying to get existing customers to buy more, they are already paying more than what you should be asking for. The only way to save this money is to develop an income model that supports a ton of ideas and sells enough of whatever customers are willing to pay for.
You should cater to all types of people
There is no shortage of content to choose from. People are hungry for what you have to say and want what you have to sell. So, you must take advantage of all content there is and make sure to go the extra mile to get those who are not willing to come to you.
Also, remember that people aren’t just advertising or purchasing stuff with their marketing. They aren’t going out of their way to show up for events and causes that will help them be successful.
The main draw of most content marketing tactics that clients, stakeholders, and influencers are clamoring for is that it will serve as a permanent link for them to visit your website. This makes for a perfect marketing plan because it will become the starting point for engaging in other content to create an ongoing conversation that results in sales. It’s the perfect plan because it is hard to rip you off at any point.
