So you want to build a business. Better than publishing income generating content on the internet you want to create a successful brand. How? Be good at writing.
If you want to get people to read your content and stay interested, you need a killer content marketing strategy. Unfortunately, writing is not easy. A lot of articles just sit on the internet gathering dust.
This is where grammar and formatting come in. Their importance should not be underestimated. Many brands have made millions of dollars from the ads that advertise technically sound businesses, yet it is obvious to everyone that they would never get the same success if they only used bold, capitalized letters or beautiful legible copy.
So how do you get rich with your content? Simple. Get it right. Completely wrong. At worst you will make a fool of yourself and end up with a subscriber that will never read the rest of your material.
When taking a look at previous content of course you will notice all kinds of typographical errors. Call me crazy, but I have never visited a website, tablet or mobile app that does not have at least one example of mistakes. The possibilities of typographical errors in your content are endless. They happen during the development of your content, on the page itself, and in the after release testing.
The most common example I have noticed includes the word “please” not spelling out “please” but instead using a big punctuation mark that is likely a response to the fact that “please” is one of the weakest words in the English language. This is not because a punctuation mark has nothing to do with the word “please” but because that is also a weak word in the English language.
In order to take a look at some of the spelling mistakes that are common I took a quick look at all of the products provided by Change Academy for their customers. Almost all of the products I saw spelled “needle” which could not have been more wrong.
Visual error #1: Do not attribute the eye colors of your product. Do your parts. Why does the the color of your armpit, belly button, and ears matter? Do your parts and that is what you are going to start being good at.
Visual error #2: Your inclusion of reference points to which you never had to refer, I could list these out but you can probably guess them.
Visual error #3: The current style of the presentation of the product used does not represent your brand. Use templates. The structured graphics that can be created that show off your logo, show how to use it, and on top of that show off how your logo is used on the button, on your page, and on your packaging.
The next few errors will not require too much explanation. There are very few people in the world who will pick up the phone without knowing what it is they are asking for. Make sure all of your calls and marketing materials look professional.
And finally, I have spotted spelling mistakes of social commentary. Don’t do it because it will be read by everyone on the internet. Tell your mom how it is that she took off a safety pin on your lunch box.
While it is up to each person to set their expectations high of others, there is a fine line between an enthusiastic state of mind and lecturing them about how they should think a certain way. Your tone is the best thing you can provide your audience.
Your fans and subscribers are here to give feedback and ask questions. They are also here to help you and share your content with their friends. The comments that come from your articles in general are also the best feedback you can receive. Don’t just ask your readers what they like, ask them what they don’t like.
