The High and Low Costs of Marketing Automation

The High and Low Costs of Marketing Automation

Marketing automation can help build relationships and grow sales with small businesses and small to mid-sized businesses. On the other hand, although marketing automation can help with this, marketing automation is not always a great thing. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you rush into marketing automation.

Customer Acquisition and Sales Help

The best marketing automation software does not facilitate customers acquisition. Companies can use automation to help them do more sales. Marketing automation helps in tracking the leads, creating automated marketing, and automating the whole process to drive sales. But when automation starts to take over, that is when it becomes problematic.

While you can make efforts to move your marketing automation from its current state to a future state, it will not become friendly to your company’s existing sales processes. Marketers must work in accordance with sales and to ensure that marketing automation becomes a comfortable experience for your sales professionals.

And while that may sound simple, it will be a long process.

Automating Key Marketing Areas

While marketing automation helps you better understand your customer base, it requires tasks to be done manually. Marketers must do tedious work in order to understand their customers and develop relevant campaigns that target their specific interests. This helps them accurately target their customers and to identify the right segments. This helps you identify better targets for your marketing automation.

If you have strong research capabilities, you can automate certain key marketing activities such as analyzing marketing data. You can predict more accurately what to do next. This would help you know which parts of your campaign to do next and which parts to avoid. This would help you organize your data and promote more.

Automation Not Enough

With marketing automation, you will be able to calculate your available resources. You will be able to identify the parts of your marketing and sales teams that can work efficiently. But once the programs begin to recommend what to do next, you would need to step back and decide. Why did automation start making those recommendations?

If your advertising department can scale up their revenues, then they should be provided with the resources necessary for advertising. As well, if your sales team can track their leads, then it should be given the tools necessary for conducting lead nurturing. This can only be done through automation.

But this is not all. Marketing automation also needs to track the sales processes. So marketing automation, according to a YouGov study, “will not eliminate the need for people involved in sales and customer relationship management (CRM).” Marketing automation can be useful in this, but if it leads to leaving your sales team out in the cold, then it will have problems.

Regulation and Privacy

Unlike other systems, marketing automation falls under the regulations of organizations such as the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and companies will need to abide by them. It will not always be a user-friendly tool for everyone. Consumers will need to understand exactly what is being automated. Marketers can use marketing automation to help them attract more customers, but it can also lead to unwanted activities. So marketing automation should only be used when it is really necessary.

Marketing automation is a valuable tool for small and medium-sized companies and small businesses. There are some aspects that need to be kept in mind when you are deploying it and you are not sure what marketing automation software to choose. You might be able to get off the ground with an entry-level marketing automation tool, but you might find that you cannot operate effectively. There are no quick fixes with automation, so avoid getting into it without proper thought.
