Part of that physical balance is staying on top of what you are eating. A healthy lifestyle is the only way to balance the yummy, delicious food that we each crave and go through throughout the day! I try to eat the things I crave, but knowing when and what is good for me as a person means not eating a lot of carbs and sugar and high-fat. I am always looking for ways to maintain a balance so that my body feels healthy and balanced, even through stressful situations that may be hard for me to deal with! So, from my personal experience of working with food as part of a wellness program, I also try to give a little bit more of myself to others around me at work! My work mantra: Eat more whole, animal-free, plant-based foods.

Agility:

I prefer working in a team approach, and that doesn’t necessarily mean I like to hog all the credit for things. We need to challenge ourselves and to encourage others in the workplace. That’s why I think it’s important to set aside time for our daily 5 minutes of reflection.

I recently h a conversation with a female colleague about the yummy food in the cafeteria, and she pointed out that it’s not always easy for those of us with the high-fat diets. He responded by asking me how often I have a list of “healthy foods,” and I said that when I ask people to make me things I want or need, I love them and bring them. I want those things around me, always in reach of me, and with the intention of thinking to myself “What am I needing?” I realized that while eating really good food every day, sometimes I eat so much that all I want to do is dig in. I’m usually only hungry for an hour or two in between meals, because that’s when I feel most replenished. You can practice in your space or even in the hallways of the office.

Clarity:

How you go about clearing your mind helps you to accomplish more and to create a balanced life. I like to take some time every day to draw in my thoughts and relax a bit. I also call my sister or a close friend to talk about something, and come out feeling calm and clear about it, and this really expands my awareness!

I also like to go home and meditate. This is an opportunity to clear my thoughts and remind myself of what I’m grateful for each day. Meditation helps me to allow the breath to flow naturally and allow for more complete awareness of what’s happening around me.

Competence:

I choose to work hard. This doesn’t necessarily mean I’m an overly-ambitious person, but I am always on the go. I’m constantly checking things off a to-do list, and I know the amazing benefits of getting on time and being organized to manage time. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned over the years, I have learned that it is not okay to procrastinate. That’s what’s valuable and important to me.

But, there are also some days I’ll have a difficult day, and I’ll want to leave work early to take a break and reflect. I think this is the best time to focus on relaxing and to take that

Being mindful and focused on relaxation with proper movement practice remains one of the most effective ways to cultivate feelings of happiness and presence in your life. Meditation is often the first class in the morning where we practice our breath as we go, and as I keep exploring ways to integrate yoga and meditation into my daily routines, I notice the transition that occurs in this category of exercise become more and more seamless. Switching from a full practice to a meditation class can help set me up to experience a more natural state of mind when I want to center my mind throughout the day. Another way to prepare myself to practice meditation/yoga is to have a body-mind complete preparation before I start or during the practice to increase awareness for what is going on in the world around me. When I travel or take a few days off for other activities that requires me to travel, I like to start with a practice of mindfulness that emphasizes bringing in more of an inner balance with my body. I like to find a quiet space, outside during the day or evening, and meditate for a few minutes. Wherever you find your relaxation space, please be mindful of your environment and allow yourself time to take a breath in the flow. But when you’re truly ready to add a mindful movement practice into your already busy lifestyle, you’ll need to think about how you can make the most of it.The right time of day to meditate or practice yoga really depends on your energy levels and capacity to take care of yourself. The easiest way to figure out the best times for you to practice yoga or meditation is to take some time out of your day to find places where you can get in the space. On the other hand, for those people who do yoga in the day where most don’t have a traditional gym, there is no time slot that works best for them. The other thing to look for is the time of day where the practice works best for you and your body. We know one of the best ways to transform your life is to make the most of your time every day. In the morning, have a light meditation on your mat or do a little yoga in bed to rest your mind and body. A daily meditation practice with relaxation music keeps you centered and helps you shift your focus to the emotions of the day and not what went wrong last night.
